Robert De Niro Is Given Fitting Nickname After He Claims Trump Is Causing America To Crumble

Robert De Niro doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to his thoughts on President Trump. The actor, who has been very critical of Trump in the past, fired off a rant about the current administration’s climate change policy, during a recent speech at the World Government Summit in the Middle East. De Niro noted that the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, suggested that global warming may not be a bad thing.

He explained:

“I am talking about my own country, the United States of America. We don’t like to say we are a ‘backward’ country so let’s just say we are suffering from a case of temporary insanity.”

He further explained that the U.S. “will eventually cure itself by voting our dangerous leader” out of office.

Pruitt had made these remarks about global warming during an interview with KSNV in Las Vegas recently: “We know humans have most flourished during times of warming trends. There are assumptions made that because the climate is warming that necessarily is a bad thing.”

Further, he asked: “Do we know what the ideal surface temperature should be in the year 2100 or year 2018. It’s fairly arrogant for us to think we know exactly what it should be in 2100.”

Of course, national security experts believe that climate change could greatly impact the human race, with millions required to adapt or migrate with sea levels rising and weather disasters impacting the planet.

Pruitt further asserted:

“There was a declared war on coal, a war on fossil fuels. The EPA was weaponized against certain sectors of our economy and that’s not the role of a regulator. Renewables need to be part of our energy mix, but to think that will be the dominant fuel is simply fanciful.”

In January, De Niro called Trump a “f**king fool” in a speech at the National Board of Review awards gala.

Many people weighed in with opinions on the Fox News coverage of De Niro’s speech, with one person asking: “Does he think anyone cares about his opinion? What is he doing these days except complaining about the issues, doing NOTHING to fix what he feels is wrong?”

Another commenter wondered why De Niro was speaking on the subject at all and has given him one hilarious nickname, writing: “Question: What business does Robert De Numbskull have of addressing the World Government Summit in Dubai? He’s not a dignitary. He’s not even dignified. He’s just a stupid actor who plays ‘make-believe’ and ‘pretend’ for a living. And CO2 is NOT… I repeat NOT an issue regarding climate change. There were periods in earth’s history where CO2 levels were much higher… millions of years before industrialization was to happen. You are aware that, without CO2, this would be a lifeless rock floating in space, right?”

Others on social media weren’t all that impressed either, with comments including: “Think De Niro needs to re-evaluate what comes out of his mouth, guess he needs a script,” “De Niro used to be admired and respected. Now he is a grade A moron,” and “Yeah, a country that made him a multi-millionaire. Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you.”
